Our Programs
ASL Parent Child Mother Goose
The Parent-Child Mother Goose Program uses rhymes, songs, and stories to teach parents of infants and toddlers how to foster attachment and enrich interactions with their children in American Sign Language. It gives children’s brains the right kind of stimulation during the most critical development period of their entire lives. In addition to this focused initiative, this program promotes networking, mentoring, and developing working relationships of PCMG teachers as well as provides opportunities for professional development training for new and experienced teachers.
Community Outreach
Our Community Outreach Program aims to respond to the massive challenge of bringing awareness, education, and training to the forefront of organizations, businesses, schools, and even individuals. It is imperative that we bring together Deaf and hearing communities and work collaboratively with people and companies to advance our society’s understanding and knowledge of each other and how we can enhance our qualities of life as a whole. Our goal is to increase every person’s knowledge of accessibility, resources, and accommodation for the Deaf community.
ASL Teachers oF Ontario
American Sign Language Teachers of Ontario was created to strengthen and support the ASL teacher community, while continually improving the quality of ASL curriculums and programming. ASLTO is multi-faceted in its approach to enhancing ASL teachers and programming: we value growth and offer workshops, training, and assessments to promote learning and the development of new experiences; we value language and work hard to preserve ASL and Deaf Culture through our literature, teaching strategies, curriculum development, and community interactions and affiliations; we value community and offer each other support, friendship, mentorship, and encouragement. We are experts in ASL and operate under a high standard of ethics and teaching standards.
Sign Languages Act Committee
Advocating for the Sign Languages Act and Proclaiming UN International Day of Sign Languages. Our dedicated committee aims to raise awareness about sign languages and the rights of Deaf individuals, fostering accessibility and inclusion for effective communication. We also empower Deaf individuals to create a safe space to discover their linguistic and cultural identity. Join us in our mission to work closely with government authorities to secure recognition and support for sign languages through the Sign Languages Act, as well as to promote the proclamation of the UN International Day of Sign Languages. Together, we contribute to a more inclusive and accessible future for all while celebrating the richness of sign languages and Deaf Culture.
