Kingston proclaims International Day of Sign Languages

President Micheline Crocker attended Kingston, S5WAVES, a grassroots organization celebration on September 23, 2022. It was an important event for the Kingston Deaf and signing community as well as hearing people who attended. The City of Kingston and the mayor with OCSD support proclaimed September 23rd as International Day of Sign Languages. Kingston is the first city in Ontario to proclaim our sign languages.

S5WAVES recognize the needs of Deaf individuals for the purpose of access, getting them the services they need, as well as socializing with others. S5WAVES ensured that the Deaf community kept in touch with each other with events.

Micheline shared her insight on behalf of OCSD supporting S5WAVES endeavours at the event. She also enjoyed performance of 258Signs, Robert Bhola with DJ Kitt Tremblay bass. Congratulations S5WAVES for a successful celebration.
